Applying for licensure requires submitting your personal data and documents to state licensure boards. When using our services to help with this process, we do everything we can to make sure that data doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.
Our founders have over two decades of experience in the financial and healthcare industries, both of which require extensive security trainings and procedures. That experience has guided our security practices and personnel training. Here are the core steps we take to ensure your data is safe.
We require a strong password to create your Elsie account. We do this to combat brute force attacks. A brute force attack uses trial-and-error to guess your login information. The longer the password, the easier it is to counter a brute force attack.
Sensitive information such as passwords and SSNs are stored under a 256-bit encryption and not plain text. Some information may be decrypted within the Elsie app to allow our licensing agents to apply for licenses on your behalf.
We ask that you upload documents required for licensure such as your birth certificate and drivers license.
These documents are only available within the Elsie app and the URLs (links) to access them expire after 1 minute. This process is significantly safer than sharing these documents via email.
Additionally, Elsie has access control in place to ensure only the people who need the information have access to it.
Here are the people that have access to your data:
We do not grant managers or co-workers access your data. Designated managers on team plans may see your basic license information (the same information that is listed publicly by each state), and your CEU progress towards your renewals.
If anyone attempts to read your data who does not have access they are stopped and a notification is sent directly to the founders.
The Elsie software and database are behind a strict firewall and in some cases only accessible by a single computer.
Applying for licensure can be tough work. We want to take that work off your hands in the most responsible way we can. We take the trust and responsibility of storing your private data seriously. We’re always happy to answer further questions about our security practices.
